BB Sarawak Central Region Founders’ Day Celebration

On 3rd October 2009,  all 10 BB companies in Sibu met together at SIB Hosanna church in conjunction with the Founders’ day celebration. This year, the Founders’ day were hosted by 7th Sibu Company & 9th Sibu Company. In total, there were about 800 BB members attended the celebration.

At 2:00pm, the event start with the marching of the color party. Then we had a singspiration followed by a choir presentation by 7th Sibu Company. Then Pastor Timothy’ shared the words of God with us.  In his sermon, he had shared 3 points.

  • We need to see the needs of people. Often, we know the problem that exists among youth but we do not came up with a solution to overcome the problem.
  • BB is a body of organisation that consists of officers, boys & girls. We should act as one body like the body of Christ.
  • We need to train BB boys & girls to glorify and serve our God continuously.

After the sharing we had a “Poco-poco” dance performance by 4 girls from 9th Sibu Company. Then we had a prize giving for Central region basketball competition. We also had the priviledge to hear a sharing on the development of BB in Sarawak by Lt. Hu wei Ung. We praise God that currently we had a Sarawak state full time officer and our own depot located at MY centre.  In 2011, BB in Sarawak will also be celebrating 50th anniversary. Also we had a vision to purchase one shop for BB Sarawak.

This year, we included games into the programme.  However, leading a game for 800++ members is not an easy job. We would like to thank one of our brother-in-Christ for leading the game throughout the whole afternoon.  We believe that every members did enjoy their afternoon.

About 5pm, the games ended and we closed our Founders’ day celebration with a closing prayer by Pastor Timothy followed by Color Party marching off. We give thanks to God for allowing our Founder, Sir William Alexander Smith seeing the needs of boys and formation of The Boys’ Brigade back in 1883. Till today, we have BB in nearly all around the world and expansion is still ongoing. We pray that God will continue to bless The Boys’ Brigade and use this organisation to advance the Kingdom of God and spreading the Good news.

Lord, Bless The Boys’ Brigade.

  1. 1) We need to see the needs of people. Often, we know the problem that exists among youth but we do not came up with a solution to overcome the problem.

These 3 points had being voiced out by someone before in your company, doesn’t it? How many members had lost their way from God because of BB? When problems occurred, did officers seriously seek for the solutions instead of finding excuses “we had did our best”?

    • There is no harm in repeating these points. It is a reminder to all of us. Jesus has remind us constantly in His preaching. A member has the choice to leave BB but that doesn’t implies he/she has lost their way from God. Loving BB doesn’t mean loving God. It is two separate point here. If a member lost their way from God because of BB, then his/her faith in God is not strong enough. God’s love surpass everything even BB. If one truly love God, he/she would definitely not leave God disregard of any reasons. There is no deny that sometimes officers fail to solve a problem. Officers are human too. Sometimes a problem can be very complicated that thing are beyond our control. But one thing we can all do is pray to God. Though it is a small action, God hears & provide the best for us. That’s how BB survive until today. We rely on God’s power and not officers, NCOs & members. Hope this help.

  2. Ok. I have a new friend who came from 1st Sibu company who shared about a vision that he had from God. He told me about “Shepherd and a flock of sheeps” which reminded me about d verses in the Bible. He felt disappointed by the officers who strayed from the path of God, is it true? He shared with me about unconditional love of Christ which was shared from one of his officers. He told me we as human being do not exactly understand d meaning of unconditional love. I won’t write too much about him. What i want to know is 1st sibu company. Thank You so much for updating the news for your company. God Bless.

  3. Thanks for your comment. I’ll need to clarify that this is not 100% 1st Sibu Company blog. 1st Sibu Company do not own this blog. That’s why it is unofficial blog. This blog was started by a former 1st Sibu member. The main reason to create this blog is that the owner saw the need to share information and activities of 1st Sibu to everyone because there are lot of former BB members over the world who are still concern about 1st Sibu. Hence any comment made here is solely by owner and do not represent all officers.

Often, we said that we’ve received a vision from God and we want to implement it. But how do we know God’s vision. First of all, we need to be very clear the vision we received. When we received a setback or an officer disagree, does it mean we are straying from God. I don’t think so. We need to know what is know what path does God want us to walk. How do we judge a person who stray from the path of God. Do not go to church, do not pray, do not read bible? I personally believe those who do not believe & accept in Jesus are the only one walk away from the path of God. Jesus has died for our sins on the cross. Accepting Him is the path that he want us to walk. That’s why the main goal of BB is to spread the gospel and lead our members to Christ.

In Jesus time, human being never understand the unconditional love. Even the disciples like Peter don’t understand. But Jesus has shown to us what is unconditional love. John 3:16 said, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son that whoever believe in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” This is the greatest and unconditional love that exist in this world.

Again officers are not perfect. Officers will commit mistakes too. In BB we’ll try to learn from one another. Sometimes conflict may occurs due to different opinions. But sometimes officers have to be firm and strict with their decision. Though we need to have mutual respect, rank & file must always be upheld too because BB twin pillars is discipline & Christian education.

Sorry for the long comment. =)

  4. Agree with the points. I don’t know him well actually but i sensed d strong passion of him on God. Last thing that he told me was God granted him a sight to see things which others can’t see! He said God want him to search for the sheep that had lost their way. Ermm.. Is he crazy?! I would like to know this person. Would you mind to tell me about him? I met him twice.

    • Hi, first of all I would like to mention that I do not know who is this friend from 1st Sibu Company as you didn’t mention his name too. I have no rights to comment on your friend’s personality. It is your freedom and choice to make a friend. I can only say is he has a strong passion on God, then he will try to be God’s servant and serve God’s purpose. Perhaps it is a good idea to get your friend to share his vision with a pastor as pastor might be able to tell him which area he can serve God and His purpose. Hope this help.
